Needle roller bearings feature slender and long rollers. Despite their small cross-sectional area, they provide high load-carrying capacity. Needle roller bearings use slender rollers with a roller diameter of D ≤ 5 mm and a length-to-diameter ratio of L/D ≥ 2.5, where L is the roller length. This design results in a compact radial structure. When the bore size and load-carrying capacity are the same as those of other types of bearings, needle roller bearings have a smaller outside diameter, making them particularly suitable for bearing arrangements where radial installation space is limited.

The main structural types of needle roller bearings include solid outer ring needle roller bearings, such as the NA 0000 and NKI series; solid outer ring needle roller bearings of the RNA series; needle roller and cage assemblies of the K 00000 series; and drawn cup needle roller bearings without an inner ring and with a cage, including the HK and BK series.
